I’ve Decided Not To Nominate: Xanana

"President Xanana Gusmao, speaking from Lisbon on Wednesday, has said that he will not nominate himself for a second term as President, because this will be better for the people. He stated that he would not be swayed from his decision, as he feels that it is not good for somebody to become indispensable. When asked who he imagines may be his successor, Xanana answered that the name on everybody’s lips at the moment is that of Jose Ramos-Horta. Ramos-Horta himself however has defended Xanana’s right to nominate himself for a second term."
