“Karau-timur mate”

Upon approaching my favourite Timorese/Indonesian restaurant for lunch, I noticed the head of a dead buffalo lying on the steps of the carpenter’s shop next door. Its brains were exposed and I felt sick. As a result, I didn’t enjoy my lunch as the image of the buffalo’s head and the thought of his/her death filled my mind. How I love the “karau-timur”! They are such beautiful and serene animals.
